About the event
The Chanoyu (茶の湯) is a traditional Japanese tea ceremony with deep historical roots, introduced to Japan from China centuries ago. It was practiced by samurai as a means of mental preparation before battle.
The Japanese tea ceremony is more than just enjoying a cup of tea; it is a transformative and meditative practice that fosters mindfulness, social skills, attention to detail, inner calm, aesthetic appreciation, personal growth, and a connection with nature.
Moreover, like Ikebana, the tea ceremony embodies the essential spirit of harmony (和道). As students of Ikebana, we can gain valuable insights from the tea ceremony. This workshop will focus on three key aspects: the History of the Japanese Tea Ceremony, Chabana (Ikebana for Tea Ceremony), and Otemae.
